Stoke Games, a newly formed indie studio that operates entirely remotely, has recently announced that it has secured a $5.5 million funding round. According to Forbes, the studio has attracted investments for its first title, which it describes as a “shooter-adjacent” game. The studio believes that the game will offer a competitive player-versus-player (PvP) experience with a unique and less frenzied approach to the genre.

Stoke Games has been launched by Veigar Bouius and Jon Diesta, who are industry veterans and co-founders. They have contributed to games like Hogwarts Legacy, League of Legends, MultiVersus, and Disney Infinity, and share decades of experience in the industry. Their first release at Stoke prioritizes strategy and deliberate action over twitch reflexes, which was well-received by its new backers.

BITKRAFT Ventures is leading a fund that has received investments from Riot Games, the developer of League of Legends and VALORANT, industry fund 1Up Ventures, and a few unidentified angel investors. The funding will be utilized by the studio to increase playtests with early community members and plan for further expansion until 2024.
