Electronic Arts (EA) also published a financial report for the December 31, 2023 quarter. Below is an excerpt from it.

Company data:

  • EA reported that its net revenue was $1.94 billion, up 3% from 2022. Of that amount, $1.32 billion came from games services;
  • Console is the largest platform by revenue. Console games generated $1.3 billion, PC games generated $420 million, and mobile games generated $296 million;
  • net bookings were almost unchanged for the year. They totaled $2.36 billion, up 1% year over year;
  • EA’s net income rose 42% to $290 million.

Game data:

  • EA is pleased with EA SPORTS FC’s financial performance. The company said the franchise’s net revenues were higher than it expected. The amount is not named, but it is known to be up 7% over 2022;
  • FC Mobile saw a 29% increase in daily active users. 20% more new players joined FC Online than in October-December 2022;
  • EA revealed the net revenue growth of EA SPORTS Madden NFL franchise. It amounted to 5%;
  • users started playing The Sims 4 more. In October-December 2023, they spent 1.8 billion hours in the game – an increase of 30% in annual terms. Recall, The Sims 4 switched to a F2P distribution model on October 18, 2022;
  • Battlefield 2042 audience grew by 17% year over year;
  • Apex Legends fell short of EA’s financial expectations this quarter due to “high competition.” However, the company pointed out that its recent collaboration with Final Fantasy VII Rebirth was extremely promising. In early January, Apex Legends topped Steam’s weekly box office chart.
