miHoYo has announced that the free-to-play turn-based RPG Honkai: Star Rail has reached 100 million downloads in less than a year, with the game’s global release on April 26, 2023.

How the downloads were distributed between the mobile, PC and PlayStation 5 versions is not reported. Did not disclose miHoYo and the revenue of the title.

According to AppMagic, only the mobile version of Honkai: Star Rail earned more than $6 million on its debut day, surpassing the initial revenue of another hit, miHoYo – Genshin Impact. Five months later, Naavik analysts reported that the game’s total revenue across all platforms passed $1 billion, with China, Japan, and the US being the top markets for the game.

Also, in its announcement, miHoYo confirmed that Honkai: Star Rail will get support for Apple Vision Pro VR headset through a special compatibility mode, and on the morning of February 6, patch 2.0 with a new region – the planet Penaconia – will be released for the game.

A week ago, it was reported that the mobile version of Genshin Impact had earned $5 billion – faster than any other mobile game in the world. According to data.ai, it took the bar 40 months after release. By comparison, the previous record holder, Clash of Clans, broke the $5 billion mark 51 months after its release. Let’s see if Honkai: Star Rail can beat the record of Genshin Impact.
