AppMagic reports that Goddess of Victory: Nikke, a shooter with gacha mechanics, topped the charts in one month with 4 million installs and $70 million in revenue. The game is a huge success and has already overtaken Diablo Immortal and Genshin Impact in the charts.

The only thing that remains unclear is whether the statistics consider the 30% commission that marketplaces receive. If so, then Goddess of Victory: Nikke becomes on par with global hits like Genshin Impact and Diablo Immortal.

Side note: Genshin Impact earned $3.7 billion.

The popularity of Goddess of Victory: Nikke is due to the look and theme that attracts a vast number of gamers, and with the help of gacha mechanics, users are kept in the game.

For a game like Nikke, where cosmetics and characters make up at least 50% of the game’s appeal, giving more action to those who spend money on gacha is an exciting way to see that FOMO is not the only driving force. By encouraging gamers with gifts, the game keeps gamers positive and encourages them to keep spending money.

Games with gacha mechanics are a vital factor in the mobile gaming industry in Japan. Such products have supplanted hyper-casual games in terms of playing time, thanks to increased player retention: 53% of the game’s revenue came from Japan, 26% from South Korea, and 14% from the United States.

Between November 2 and December 3, the game was downloaded 5.2 million times. Japan accounted for 21% of downloads, South Korea for 13%, the United States for 11% and Indonesia for 10%. Peak revenue came on November 12 — the game earned $5.86 million.

In the last ten days, the game’s revenue has stabilized and is $1.6-$2 million per day.
