Palworld by Pocket Pair, Inc. continues to amaze – the game already has 1 million players at the same time. The game has broken the records of CS 2, Dota 2, Baldur’s Gate 3, Hogwarts Legacy and Elden Ring.

  • Almost everyone in the studio was inexperienced: the team learned new things right in the process, constantly changed concepts, and for a long time did not conduct any planning
  • The exact budget of the game was not allocated, but in the end, it amounted to $6.7 million. This is the sum of the investments of the whole team, and by the end of development, it simply ran out of money
  • It was the studio’s first experience in creating its models and environments. At first, no one on the team even knew how to work with the animation skeleton
  • The main artist couldn’t get a job for several years, he was turned down by over 100 companies
  • The weapon animation was done by a 20-year-old guy who had only finished high school. He had to combine game development with his job as a cashier. Half of the money he made went to the budget
  • At one point, a Unreal developer came to the team and convinced everyone to give up Unity. Then the ready build was “thrown out”, and the man alone had to train the whole team to work with the new engine
  • In the end, the team was joined by experienced developers who helped to optimize the game.

And all these difficulties did not prevent Palworld from becoming a surprise hit this year.
