Sensor Tower, an analytics company, has released a report on the South Korean mobile gaming market. It covers the period from January through September 2023.
- In the first nine months of 2023, South Korean gamers spent $3.6 billion on mobile games. That’s 12% less than last year, but 24% more than in 2019 before the COVID-19 pandemic.
- RPGs accounted for the most money at $2 billion, followed by strategy (12%) and sports games (6%).
- Almost half of the $3.6 billion (42%) gamers spent on foreign games. 28% of that 42% went to games created by Chinese companies.
- Analysts expect the South Korean mobile games market to generate $4.8 billion in revenue for the full year.
