British developer Netspeak Games has raised $12 million in Series A investment led by venture capital firms Lakestar and Project A, with contributions from the Makers Fund and JagexCCP and Kepler Interactive.

The studio is using the new wave of funding to support its upcoming game, Sunshine Days, which is currently in the soft-lunch stage, to accelerate its growth strategy.

Netspeak has taken a different approach to game type and internal culture. I’m happy to support a team leading the game market where some diversity can’t hurt.

Since its founding, the company has attracted $16 million and industry veterans from King, Rockstar, EA and PlayStation.

I’m excited to share the funding news today. Building the company during a pandemic was no easy task, but through support, kindness and internal culture, Netspeak Games has become a world-class team.

Callum Brighting, CEO of Netspeak Games

Netspeak Games uses a remote working model and provides employees unlimited vacation time and increased pay due to maternity, paternity and secondary care. Today, the company is recruiting and welcoming inquiries from those wishing to find work in the gaming industry.
