NetherRealm Studio and Warner Bros. Games has officially announced a new installment of the legendary fighting game called Mortal Combat 1, thus marking a full reboot of the series.

A side note: Age of Wonders 4 has been bought 250,000 times immediately after release

The series will be taken back in time and the first trailer for the game, which we saw on 18 May, delighted with the return of the previous characters: Shang Tsung, Liu Kang, Raiden, Scorpion, Kitana, Milina and Sab-Ziro. But they are very different from the combatants that players may have known for the past 30 years, as the game’s action takes place in the deep past.

The developer has already dubbed the new installment “a rebirth of the Mortal Kombat universe created by fire god Liu Kang“. NetherRealm Studio also promises a new combat system, game modes and iconic fatalities from the series, some of which can be seen in the debut trailer.

The game will be released on September 19, 2023 on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PC and Xbox Series X.
