InvestGame analysts have published a report on gaming industry deals for the first half 2023. In the first half of 2023, the total volume of gaming deals has sagged by more than 10 times. 149 deals were made directly by game developers and publishers. The rest of the deals were made by cyber sports organizations and companies dealing with game platforms and technologies.
- In January-June 2023, companies related to the game industry made 324 deals totaling $4.1 billion. For comparison: in the first half of 2022, 455 deals totaling $43.3 billion were made.
- Mergers and acquisitions experienced the biggest drop. The number of closed deals fell from 132 to 71, and their total volume dropped 31 times to $0.9 billion.
- The number of private equity deals fell from 316 to 239 transactions. Their total volume is $1.5 billion (-81%).
- There were 5 more public offerings than in the first half of 2022 – 20 transactions. Nevertheless, their total volume also decreased to $1.7 bln (-49%).
