Sony has announced a definitive agreement to acquire Savage Game Studios, a talented team of creatives with experience creating popular mobile games. The deal is for the future expansion of PlayStation Studios’ audience.

Savage Game Studios was founded in 2020 under the leadership of Michael Katkov, Najim Ajira and Michael McManus. Savage Game Studios was born out of years of mobile game development experience spanning several successful global franchises.

The team sought to create a creative space where experimentation and risk-taking were not shunned with apprehension but eagerly embraced. Employees worked in large studios, and while they understood the benefits of more extensive resources, they wanted to stay small and nimble so they could make their own decisions.

The company’s efforts will focus on introducing more people to game content and trying to reach new audiences unfamiliar with the PlayStation. The studio joins the newly formed PlayStation Studios Mobile Division, which operates independently of console development and focuses on innovative mobile games based on new and existing PlayStation franchises.

PlayStation Studios hopes mobile game fans will look forward to the upcoming releases. Savage Game is already working on a new AAA mobile action game. It’s too early to reveal details yet.
