Cypriot publisher SayGames is focusing on hybrid-casual games with deeper gameplay and live-action, while continuing to operate hyper-casual games. This was stated by the studio’s CEO Yegor Vaikhanski in an interview with Mobilegamer.biz.

A side note: Is the era of hyper-casual games coming to the end?

It’s harder to launch a successful hyper-casual game today compared to 2021, as it requires advanced product analysis tools, marketing expertise, and simply better games in general. Ad monetisation isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, but changing market conditions require developers and publishers to adapt and improve quickly. When our first hybrid game was released in mid-2021, we saw not only our potential to produce and sell live operational games, but also the opportunity for future growth by managing those games on a long-term basis.

SayGames has invested heavily in its user segmentation tools and in-game system offerings to make the transition into a hybrid realm, and now publishes games drawn from all genres.

SayGames is focusing on hybrid-casual games
SayGames has 100 games in its portfolio, most of them are hyper-casual

This does not mean that the hyper-casual genre is going away completely. Based on data and reports from last year, where these games were the most popular of all mobile genres, it can be argued that hyper-casual games will continue to exist. However, don’t overlook the fact that game publishers and studios are moving to adapt in relation to the changes taking place in the gaming and global economic space. And in order to stay afloat and continue their fruitful activities, companies are transforming the hyper-casual genre into a hybrid-casual one, but this transition is so smooth that we, the players, will not be able to notice any abrupt changes.
