Konami and Cygames are suing over the girl-horse game UmaMusume: Pretty Derby. The lawsuit was filed by Konami, with representatives claiming that publisher Cygames had infringed patents belonging to the studio.

Now Konami is going to win the case and get compensation of 4 billion yen (about $29 million) and have the game removed from all distribution sites.

The most interesting thing about this situation is that Konami did not say exactly what patents were infringed by the developers of the title, but it did say that they apply to a number of gameplay elements.

Cygames does not admit its guilt and argues that the charges are unfounded. It’s not clear how the case will end, but we’ll continue to monitor the situation.
