The Indian gaming market continues to evolve and is showing dynamic growth. Newzoo said in a blog post that by the end of the year, there would be 373 million gamers in the country, 91% of whom are mobile users.

Today, the Indian gaming market has 373 million gamers, 91% of whom play on mobile devices. This makes it the second largest gamer market in the world. Newzoo predicts the Indian mobile gaming market will generate $2.2 billion in revenue in 2022.

To analyze the market, Newzoo partnered with the analytics platform MAAS. The report explores two metrics — Real Money Gaming (RMG) and non-RMG, to understand which companies analyzed the behaviour and preferences of Indian mobile gaming users.

Here are the main points to watch out for:

  • Real Money Gaming brought in half of the market’s revenue in 2021;
  • Mobile games published by indie publishers averaged 525,000 downloads;
  • The average Retention D1 of mobile casual and hyper-casual games is 30%. Midcore games – 25%. Average Retention D30 is 3% and 1%, respectively.
