SELL reported that the French gaming market reached €5.5 billion, down 1.6% compared to last year. Although this figure is close, it is the first time in 3 years that consumer gaming revenues in France have not reached €5.6 billion.
Key figures from the French market report for 2022:
- Total revenue: €5.5 billion, down 1.6% from last year.
- PCs (hardware, software, and accessories): €1.54 billion, up 5.8% on the previous year
- Consoles (hardware, software, and accessories): €2.56 billion, down 6.6% from the previous year.
- Mobile devices: €1.41 billion, unchanged from the previous year.

The SELL report notes that the console segment accounted for 46% of the French video game market in 2022. PC games accounted for 28% of the market share, while mobile games accounted for 26% of consumer revenue.
Boxed games accounted for 55% of revenue, and digital games 45% of game sales in France.
