A new Data.ai report, which focuses on gaming market analysis in Brazil and Mexico, shows an increase in player spending on in-game purchases in those countries, as well as an overall market upturn in the sector.

Data.ai report on Mexico’s gaming market

In-game purchases in Mexico are estimated to have increased by 9.3%. The most popular game genres among Mexicans are shooters, strategy and match-3. Also the number of total downloads has increased by 7% and now amounts to 2.42 billion in total for the year 2022.

As a result, Mexico remains the 6th largest gaming market with an average time spent on apps of almost 5 hours.

State of the gaming market in Brazil

Data.ai claims that Brazilians spent about $640 million on in-game purchases alone last year, up 12% from 2021. Total turnover was $1.37 billion, which is also 20% more than in 2021.

The top five highest-grossing game categories popular with Brazilians were shooters, strategy, RPGs, simulators and team games.
