The Chinese and UK gaming markets lost some revenue in 2022, according to reports from China Audiovisual and Digital Publishing Association and Ampere Analysis. The mobile market has been hit hardest.

The British market lost 1.6% in 2022, more than £10 million. The last time this happened was in 2012. At the same time, the market itself was 23% larger than in 2019. The mobile market lost as much as 3%, while consoles and PCs were down 1% and 1.2% respectively. These figures are likely to have been driven by falling incomes, as well as the state of the macroeconomy as a whole.

As for the Chinese gaming market, it fell 10.33% to $39 billion. The number of active users also fell by 0.33%, dropping to 664 million players. Such figures were most likely due to the suspension of licenses and new bans on minors. In spite of this, the Chinese gaming market is still the largest video game market by any measure.
