Embracer Group may sell Gearbox Entertainment, according to Reuters. The company has turned to advisors after receiving a purchase offer from “third parties.”
The sources cite international gaming groups among the potential buyers. How much Embracer Group expects to get for Gearbox Entertainment is unknown. Embracer Group declined to comment to Reuters on the sources’ information.
The authors of Borderlands became part of Embracer Group in 2021. Under the terms of the deal Embracer Group immediately transferred the company $363 million and promised to pay another $1.02 billion, if Gearbox Entertainment will achieve the necessary financial goals in the coming years.
Recall, in early September it became known that Embracer Group reduced the staff of Gearbox Publishing – the publishing division of Gearbox Entertainment.
